Meet the Volunteers - Meredith Family
Next up in our meet the volunteer series - the Meredith family! Jennifer Meredith and Jason Meredith and their two cute kiddos have been some of our regular volunteers at our 2nd Saturday clean ups ever since they moved here over the summer. We absolutely love when families get involved and make sure there are kid friendly options at all of our projects.

Jason is orginally from Alaska, and I am from Tampa, Florida. We met while I was teaching in Hawaii and he was vacationing there. His cousin is a friend of mine and she decided to set us up while he was visiting. Twelve years later and he says I was the best souvenir he's ever gotten.
We moved to Coos County in June from Alabama because Jason is in the Coast Guard. We have been trying to get to the PNW for years so we were very excited he got orders here. Though moving to Oregon was our third cross-country move in five years! So far, we have really enjoyed the area even though we have had a few hiccups and challenges.
Since moving to Coos Bay, I was hired as administrative assistant at the North Bend Public Library. I absolutely love my job and have the best boss and coworkers. (Shameless plug for NBPL; If you havent checked out any of the programs we offer, you should! The library here is awesome!). Our kids have also settled into their new schools and are making friends. As a family, we feel very at home in Oregon.
We initially got involved with OBAB because I became friends with Beth, who told us about it. It is important to us as a military family to get involved with the local community wherever we are living. We value participating in community service and giving back, and it is important to us that our kids learn those values as well.
We are excited to see how OBAB impacts the community here in Coos Bay. I hope to see the organization grow and help fuel a sense of pride and ownership in the community. I also hope to see more families get involved and use the opportunity to teach community service to their kids.
